How Time Flies!
I could not believe how long it has been since I last posted a message here...Yikes! It seems like only a few weeks ago we were all in the throws of wrapping up our Christmas projects...where did the time fly?
I do hope you and your families had a wonderful Holiday Season. We wish you all a great new year full of all of life's wonderful blessings, prosperity & good health.
Alas, one of the most highly anticipated events of the year is the countdown to more daylight hours! Winter can be long - we get up in the dark, come home from work in the dark. Suffice to say the long summer days are dearly missed.
Winters are generally mild here in the Capital City, but this past month we've alrady had 41.2" of snow! More than we saw in December, as a matter of fact.
Our family decided to embark on an excursion this week - we decided to take a little hike out to visit this old little cabin.
Back in the day this particular area in Juneau, the Mendenhall Valley, was home several dairy farms and considered to be too far "out the road" for poeple to really populate. The dairy farms have long been abandoned but there are still buildings that exist from that era. This particular little building has always intrigued me and for years now I've wanted to visit it on a snowy afternoon...we did today.
After trudging through a few hundred feet of snow -
we made my husband lead the way, at 6'4" it wasn't quite waist deep for him. Our Vizsla, Cedar, whose head you see just over the snow, just hates the very thought of being left to bring up the rear...so of course here he is, second in line, and desperately trying not to fall through the soft spots in the trail. He's never one to pass up an adventure...I'm just not sure he'd banked on all this!
Ah, finally at our destination, we built a small platform of sorts, and staged our 2009 Christmas Postcard picture. Kids are still trying to decide on a caption... "Home for the Holidays", "From our House to Yours", "Home sweet Home"...and who knows what else they're tossing around. It'll be interesting. In the meantime the memories of that crazy afternoon get a chuckle or two out of us all.
Here they are my three bear cubs - Krystle, Ivan & Lisa Maria. What a wonderful winter afternoon!
Well, back to it we go - we've got new treasures and projects coming your way...Tempters and Boobie Buttons by Australian Designer Helen Stubbings of Hugs 'n Kisses, a great Fat Quarter Bundle of Hoffman Bali's, and our very own Designer ColorPac's featuring color gradations in beautiful batiks by Fabrics that Care.
Have a great week everyone and stay warm!!
